Addition of values using SUM Function in Excel

SUM function in Excel returns the sum of values supplied as multiple arguments. SUM can handle up to 255 individual arguments.

Syntax of SUM Function in Excel

SUM (number1, [number2], …)

Where the number arguments are up to 255 numeric values

  • Row number 2 sums up the first row
  • Row number 3 sums up the first column

Note: #VALUE! Error occurs if the supplied number argument is non-numeric.

#NUM! Error occurs if any of the supplied number arguments are less than zero
