Tutorial on Excel Trigonometric Functions

In this tutorial we will learn the list of Trigonometric functions and how to effectively utilize the Trigonometric functions for the purpose of trigonometric operations that we require.

PI Function in Excel: PI function in Excel returns the value of the mathematical constant pi (π). PI function in Excel returns the PI value with 15 digits (14 decimal places).

SQRTPI Function in Excel: SQRTPI function in Excel returns the value of the Square root of mathematical constant pi (π) multiplied by supplied number. SQRTPI(number) is same as SQRT(π*number)

DEGREES Function in Excel: DEGREES Function in Excel converts the angle in radians to degrees

RADIANS Function in Excel: RADIANS Function in Excel converts the angle in degrees to radians.

COS Function in Excel: The COS function in Excel calculates and returns the cosine of a given radians.

ACOS Function in Excel: The ACOS function in Excel calculates the arccosine (inverse of cosine) of a given number and returns the angle in radians between 0 and π. Arccosine is inverse of cosine.

SEC Function in Excel: The SEC function in Excel calculates and returns the secant of a given radians. The Secant is the reciprocal of Cosine.

SIN Function in Excel: The SIN function in Excel calculates and returns the sine of a given radians.

CSC Function in Excel: The CSC function in Excel calculates and returns the cosecant of a given radians. Cosecant is reciprocal of sine.

TAN Function in Excel: The TAN function in Excel calculates and returns the Tangent of a given radians

COT Function in Excel: The COT function in Excel calculates and returns the cotangent of a given radians. COT is the reciprocal of TAN

ASIN Function in Excel: The ASIN function in Excel calculates the arcsine (inverse of sine) of a given number and returns the angle in radians between 0 and π. Arcsine is inverse of sine.

ATAN Function in Excel: The ATAN function in Excel calculates the arctan (inverse of Tan) of a given number and returns the angle in radians between 0 and π. Arctan is inverse of tan.

ACOT Function in Excel: The ACOT function in Excel calculates the arccot (inverse of cot) of a given number and returns the angle in radians between 0 and π. Arccot is inverse of cot.

Exponential Function in Excel: The Exponential function in Excel (EXP) calculates the value of the mathematical constant e, raised to the power of a given number.

LN() Function in Excel: LN Function in Excel calculates the natural logarithm of a given number. The Natural Logarithm of a number, (Ln(x) or Loge(x)), is the logarithm to the base

LOG Function in Excel: LOG function in Excel calculates the logarithm of a given number, to a supplied base

If   ax = b   Then   Loga(b) = x

LOG10 Function in Excel: LOG10 function in Excel calculates the common logarithm i.e. logarithm of a given number, to the base 10.

If   10x = b   Then   Log10(b) = x

FACT Function in Excel: Fact function in Excel returns the factorial of a given number. The Factorial of a number, N, is given by the product – N * (N-1) *(N-2) …3 * 2 * 1.

 

FACTDOUBLE Function in Excel: FACTDOUBLE Function in Excel returns the double factorial of a given number. Double Factorial can be calculated as follows.

  • If N is even then Double Factorial of N will be

                                                    N * (N-2) * (N-4) * …. 6* 4 * 2

  • If N is odd then Double Factorial of N will be

                                                    N * (N-2) * (N-4) * ….5 * 3 * 1

 

Multinomial Function in Excel: Multinomial function in Excel calculates the ratio of the factorial of a sum of supplied values to the product of factorials of those values.

i.e.  Multinomial (x1,x2,x3….xn)=   (x1+x2+x3….+xn)/ x1!x2!x3!….xn!

 

COMBIN Function in Excel: The COMBIN function in Excel calculates the number of combinations of a given number objects from the set without repetition.

For any 4 objects a,b,c,d there are 6 different combination of two objects

COMBINA Function in Excel: The COMBINA function in Excel calculates the number of combinations of a given number objects from the set with repetition.
